The ‘Mentoring project’ provides workers who offer one to one support to pupils on a range of issues such as building up trust. Work can be inside or outside of school hours. It does not have to be school based but could be.
Often vulnerable children and young people need a ‘friend’ someone to talk to who can be trusted and is safe, this is where the ‘Mentoring project’ comes in. A longer term option for the ‘Mentoring project’ is for the year 10/11 pupils to become mentors for the new Year 7 pupils (reading, Maths, English).
The ‘Mentoring project’ is a joint venture between Maplefields and Kettering Youth Information (KYI).
